The Canning industry. A remarkable advancement in food preservation technology developed back in the 1800s. Its help feed impoverished families and starving soldiers.
But where do you draw the line?
Read more about this atrocity here – the photos are. First a chicken is de-feathered, gutted, beheaded and then dunked into a can and placed on the shelves of Vons for god knows how long. Being a chicken is tough.
And yes, you CAN HAZ A CHEEZEBURGER. If you really want.

Man, that's just not right. Then again, I'm not poor or a soldier. I think food science can do MUCH better.
Both are scary, but I think the cheeseburger is scarier.
gastronomer/weezermonkey, what about a can stuffed inside another can. like a true version of mystery meat.
EDBM, I actually had the PLEASURE of seeing 1 of these canned chicken babies being unearthed. T'was amazing. And no, didn't eat it. The gentleman actually carried this can around for weeks, showing people at d'frent Chicago food gathering. GOOD TIMES!
That chicken is nauseating. If I was forced to eat one, I think I'd go with the canned burger (but only if if I had the powdered wine to wash it down http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=k9u42zDPU7s).
Btw, I'm a new reader and I love your blog. I found you via oshii eats, which I found via mmm-yoso!
I've eaten worse. One time I went to Applebee's.
Yikes! It's like Zankou on crack.
After seeing this I feel like asking my dad to get his big cuchiote out and cutting some uppity rooster's head clean off so I can make some real food like caldo de pollo (with the patitas of the chicken sticking out of the pot).
I actually have had canned chicken before, but I am not ashamed! It was when I was a little girl, and it "tasted like chicken" that was overcooked and stringy.
What can I say, I'm kind of speechless after looking at the pictures of the canned whole chicken being uncanned on Food Network Humor. Seriously, speechless. I don't know what else to say. Blah.
Ah, the wonders of technology. Remember astronaut food? =D
hey man, i don't know you but you take some really cool pics.
what type of camera do you use?
