Foodporno! The Ramen Girl

I haven't watched the film Tampopo, which was shot in 1985 but I've heard that it's good. It's a film about a woman and her passion for ramen. 22 years later, again the topic of ramen comes up. This movie stars Brittany Murphy, who plays a chef-in-training in a ramen noodle shop. Compelling story, I know. Not sure when this comes out soon, but I certainly hope the theatre sells cup o' noodles at the snack bar during the premiere. That'd be fun to hear slurping inside the theatre.

Very cool! Even if it gets horrible reviews, I'll watch it. There's another foodie movie that's coming up in theatres called Waitress. Based on what I've seen in the previews it's about a chick that makes pies when she's upset? I dunno.

I pray it's better than the foodie movie "Simply Irresistable" with Sarah Michelle Gellar.

There's also No Reservations coming up too. What's with all the foodie movies coming up? I expect to be disappointed but I'll watch it anyway.

Let's not forget Ratatouille!!! It combines two of my loves: Pixar and food!

Oh yeah! I'm definitely going to watch that one. :D

Brittany Murphy eats? Hah!

Anyway, I saw a recent foodie documentary titled "I Like Killing Flies". It's laced with profanity, very funny and made me hungry at the end.

Loved your previous and will be coming back regularly :) Oh, and add me onto your list of Asian food whore/blogger *winkz*

as an employee of the production company that made this movie, I have been lucky enough to be one of the few that have screened it.

As a long time foodie, online food site vistor (always on chowhound, tastespotting, this site) and current culinary student, I can honestly say the movie is fun to watch and hunger-inducing. It's shot entirely in Tokyo and the food itself looks great. I guarantee nobody will leave the theater without a quick Sawtelle stop before going home.

It's also refreshing to see a movie about passions for cooking and cuisine. Instead of sex, drugs or revenge. Which are also awesome, but food is often neglected in cinema. Overall this movie is about the RAMEN and how the Japanese hold its preparation and history sacred.

As far as it's release...thats TBD.

(btw i'm using an anonymous handle so i don't get fired, and I'm not some troll put here to be trollish. I's swears)
